FAVORITE GOLF HOLES:
Cape Fear (Hole #9) on the red course at Fourmound Disc Golf Reserve. Upon first step on that flat rubber tee you feel the inevitable headwind, see the leftward scoop into the abyss and debate your own brain about the plan for the next 20 minutes of your life. No decision is promised success, which if it hadn’t made itself clear upon first impression the point gets hammered home by the sweet invitation to one of the more treacherous greens smiling on the hillside 500 feet away.
Another one of my favorites is the long tunnel hole towards the end of the round at Pier Park in Portland, Oregon. Apart from being one of the more difficult golf shots (an absolutely straight distance drive void of almost all helix), it has giant dream catcher halfway down the fairway that is so high in a tree that despite being 10 or 12 feet by 4 or 5 feet it doesn’t even register in ones peripheral vision. It was pointed out to me absent of a legend. No one knows when or how long ago it was mantled.
Last but not least, hole #5 on the Winthrop Gold course. It’s a par five: risk/reward, risk/reward, risk/reward, risk/reward. 4 please!?
# OF ACES: Non lo so.
LONGEST MEASURED THROW: Last official measurement was at the 2004 Junior World Championship distance competition where I took second place with two 495’ drives.
PRACTICE/PRE-ROUND ROUTINE:
Drink tons of water and putt tons of times.
MOST MEMORABLE WIN:
2005 Riverside Open. It was my rookie year, and my first sanctioned B-tier win just days before my 17th birthday. A goal of mine for as long as I can remember was to win a sanctioned pro tournament at the age of 16.
GOALS:
Redefine through example what it means to be a disc golfer and teach the sport to zealous players and newbies alike.
ADVICE/TIPS:
Bend your knees, put trust in your frisbees and learn how to throw an ultimate lid.
